 NYC At-A-Glance

For the 2014 fiscal year Mayor Bloomberg has proposed cutting $135 million from after-school programs. If passed this will result in roughly 47,000 children losing their places in these highly coveted and necessary programs.

P.S. 199 Afterschool

The programs and services offered by P.S. 199 will be hit especially hard by these budget cuts resulting in a loss of over 25% of positions in their program. Not only will spots be lost but the budget for supplies will also be cut, resulting in a drastically lowered ability for afterschool to provide the services parents rely on.

Show Your Support

This is an important fight. Afterschool programs citywide provide valuable services to help children and provide parents with a safe affordable means of childcare. The only way for you to affect this horror is to get involved. Letter writing, attending rallies, and calling elected officials can make your voice heard and hopefully stop these horrible cuts.
